This function provides the ability to record institution defined prize types for the system defined prize types. The institution defined prize types are used throughout the Prizes subsystem to assign one or more prize types to a particular prize. Institution defined prize types are mapped to one of the following system defined prize types:

• CHEQUE
• MEDAL
• VOUCHER
• ITEM
• CITATION
• USER-DEFN

This form is accessed from the main menu.

The Prize Type block contains:

• Prize Type
• Description
• System Prize Type
• Closed check box
• Monetary check box
• Explanation

Rules/Notes:

Use this form to record and maintain institution specific definitions for prize types. To record an institution defined prize type, perform the following:

1. Enter the name of the institution defined prize type in the Prize Type field.
2. Enter a description for the prize type in the Description field.
3. Select a System Prize Type from the System Prize Type LOV.
4. Select the Monetary check box if the prize type has a monetary component. If this check box is selected, a value has to be defined against the prize (refer to Maintain Prize Value, PRZF0140).
5. Selecting the Closed check box prevents the Prize Type from being selected as a prize type.

Rules/Notes:

A closed System Prize Type cannot be associated with an institution defined prize type.

The monetary indicator cannot be set for a closed Prize Type.

The System Prize Type cannot be updated if associated with a Prize Type and the Prize Type is associated with one or more prizes.

The monetary indicator cannot be set for a Prize Type if the Prize Type is associated with one or more prizes.

A Prize Type record cannot be opened if it is mapped to a closed System Prize Type.
