What's in the System

The Student Information System (SIS) accommodates the majority of the business functions associated with student administration including:

• Course Structure and Planning
• Admissions
• Advanced Standing
• Enrolments
• Research Studies
• Student Finance
• Assessments
• Progression
• Graduation

There are also many facilities provided to aid in the management of the core business functions including:

• Calendar
• Organisational Structure
• Correspondence
• Audit
• Statistics
• Callista Connect
• Inquiry Facility
• Job Control and Scheduling
• Person ID Groups
• Security
• Tracking

Each business function or facility forms a component of SIS called a Subsystem. There is a complex web of interaction between the various Subsystems.

The diagram below shows the twenty one Subsystems which make up the Student Information System.

Links to Other Administrative Systems

As the System is developed, links will be available to integrate some SIS functions with other Administrative Systems. These will include links to:

• The Library System for borrower information.
• The Finance System for areas such as student fees.
• The Research and Consultancy System for areas such as research students.
• The Executive Information System for provision of strategic and corporate information.
• The Physical Resources System for areas such as classroom and equipment allocation.
• The Class and Exam Timetabling System.
• The Human Resources System for areas such as Course Co-ordinators and Unit Chairs.
