Organisational Structure

Introduction

The Organisational Structure Subsystem is used to record and maintain details of:

• Institutions
• Organisational units
• Locations, and
• Their relationships

for use in other parts of the System. Examples include:

• Advanced Standing - institution details for recording advanced standing applications
• Course Structure and Planning - organisational unit details for recording course/unit ownership and responsibility
• Course Structure and Planning - organisational unit details for recording course award ownership
• Course Structure and Planning - location details for recording course/unit offering option and pattern details

Users

Information recorded in the Organisational Structure Subsystem is predominantly reference data. The ability to add, modify and delete data within this Subsystem is restricted to certain categories of users who are the functional specialists responsible for maintaining details of institutions and their structures. Most other users are provided with read-only access to this Subsystem and will use organisational structure details within other Subsystems or through special inquiry or reporting interfaces.

Users of this Subsystem should have a broad understanding of System wide features and functionality. This manual provides the necessary information in the System Overview chapter. Help for a specific topic can be found using the Index.
