The purpose of this form is to provide various configuration options that will be used through the Finance sub system. It allows configuration for:

On-demand Statement of Account

This form is used to record the configuration values for Person Payment Schedule, Statement of Account Extract and Statement of Account Report and Printing parameters which are used by the On Demand Statement of Account job - FINF6125. It also provides generic configuration for Student Finance. It can also be used to set the Correspondence Type for Connect Statement of Account applications.

Disbursements

This form enables the recording of institutional level information relating to the management of Fee Disbursement. This function allows an administrator to specify at the institution level, the Disbursement Formula method to be used by the Disbursement Snapshot process.

The two methods of Disbursement are:

  • Maintain Fee Disbursement Formula - FINF7210
  • Maintain Fee Type Disbursement Formula - FINF7510

For example, a university that has many Fee Types associated with the same formula may use FINF7510 to set up formula. A university that has a different formula for each Fee Type may decide to continue using the existing structure of FINF7210. Only one method can be used. An institution should choose which Disbursement Calculation method to use.

Sponsor Debt

This indicator allows the institution to configure FINJ6240 and FINJ6111 to transfer sponsored debt to the loan scheme

This form is accessed from the main menu.

Rule/Notes:

The Prevent Fee Assessment After Loan Draw Down check box allows the user to stop automatic fee assessment after the loan draw down has occurred for a student.

The schedule next day check box is used to schedule a payment due date that falls on a non business day to the next business day.

The Initialise Schedule on Increase in Debt check box allows for the Person Payment Schedule (PPS) to be initialised for an increase in debt. Set this parameter to N when the Notification Date is altered and an extra PPS entry for a particular Fee Type is required in the PPS to indicate an increase in debt.

Set this parameter to Y to initialise the PPS and create a new PPS entry for a particular Fee Type that includes the increase in debt. The original PPS entry for this Fee Type is then logically deleted. The result is a single PPS entry for this Fee Type that includes the debt increase.

The Initialise Schedule on Decrease in Debt check box allows for the Person Payment Schedule (PPS) to be initialised for a decrease in debt. Set this parameter to 'N' to decrease the assessed amount of the last entry in a set of PPS entries for a particular Fee Type.

Set this parameter to 'Y' to initialise the PPS and proportionally decrease the assessed amount of each entry of a multiple PPS entry set. The ratio originally defined in the Payment Schedule template between each entry in the set is maintained.

A correspondence item of the Electronic Correspondence Type nominated on this form will be created when generating Statements of Account via Callista Connect.

Fee Disbursement Method Type. The user should select a value before setting up disbursement formulae and running the snapshot, otherwise the snapshot will fail. Only one method of setting up Disbursement Formula can be used by an institution.

The Maintain Sponsor Debt During Loan Draw Down and Payment Schedule Processing check box. The default is 'N' (not selected). This means the processing of Sponsor Debts will continue as normal (not held back). For example, Sponsor Debts will still be transferred to the loan customer (FINJ6240) and to the student (FINJ6111) post Loan Draw Down.

If 'Y' is selected, then the Sponsor Debt Loan Scheme and Payment Schedule Processing is held back. This prevents the Loan Draw Down job (FINJ6240) from transferring a Sponsor's Debt to the loan customer and prevents Person Payment Schedule (FINJ6111) from transferring a Sponsor's Debt to a student post Loan Draw Down.

The Default CAN Status field is used to specify the system CAN status applied to the CAN when the FINJ6200 job is run. The statuses that are available are PENDING or VALID.

Rule/Notes:

Validations include:

  • Disbursement Configuration Method cannot be null
  • CAN status selected must not be closed
