Purpose

To set one of the two Retention Methods as the default for use to retain some portion of the fee or fees in a Fee Period.

When a student reduces their study load or discontinues a course before the Census Date of a Fee Period, it may be institution policy to retain some portion of the fee or fees for which they were assessed in the period.

To achieve this, two different methods are available. The required method is selected when setting up a retention schedule in the form FINF28A0, Define Retention Schedule. Further explanation of the two methods is given in the documentation for FINF28A0.

The System Retention Method Type block contains:

• System Default check box

Rule/Notes:

Use this form to select one of the two System Values DEBT_RTN or LOAD_RTN. This will determine which Retention Method is to serve as the default when using FINF28A0.
