Purpose

To allow the recording of Admission Category and Admission Category Unit Set restrictions against a Course Offering Option

Admission Category

This block is explained in Understanding Admissions. Admission Category can be applied to Course Offering Options. The effect is to limit the Admission Categories into which Admission Applications for particular Course Offering Options can be placed. (This is not to suggest that all Admission Categories would be valid unless Admission Category records exist for the Course Offering Option.)

When an Admission Application is processed, either:

• the Admission Application is assigned the Admission Category of the session details because that Admission Category is one of those to which the Course Offering Option is restricted or
• if no Admission Categories are mapped to the Course Offering Option, then it would not be possible to process an Admission Application for that course offering.

Admission Category Unit Set Restrictions

This block can be applied to Course Offering Options in a particular Admission Category. The effect is to limit the Unit Sets available for Admission Applications for this Course Offering Option/Admission Category combination.

The Course Offering Option block contains:

• Course Code
• Version Number
• Sector
• Course Status
• Title
• Calendar Type
• Location Code
• Att Mode
• Att Type

The Admission Category block contains:

• Admission Category
• Description
• System Default check box

The Admission Category Unit Set Restriction block contains:

• Unit Set Code
• Version Number
• Title

Admission Category

Use this block to restrict Course Offering Options to particular Admission Categories.

Query and locate the Course Offering Option to which a restriction is to be applied.

Record one or more Admission Categories to which the Course Offering Option is restricted.

Select one of the Admission Categories as the System Default. This Admission Category is used by the System wherever it needs to automatically determine an Admission Category for a Course Offering Option.

For example, during the TAC offer load process, each application is assigned the default Admission Category for its subject Course Offering Option.

Rules/Notes:

One and only one Admission Category must be set as the System default for each Course Offering Option.

The list of values for Admission Category will include all Admission Categories unless course type restrictions exist in ADMF2M20.

Admission Category Unit Set Restriction

Use this block to restrict unit sets to Course Offering Options in particular Admission Categories.

Select the Course Offering Option and Admission Category for which the unit set restriction is to be applied.

Record one or more unit sets to which the Course Offering Option is restricted for the particular Admission Category.

Rules/Notes:

If no unit sets are selected in this block then all of those available for this Course Offering Option will be available in this Admission Category.
