CRSF12E0 - Maintain Course Version Notes

Purpose

To allow the creation and maintenance of Notes relating to Course Versions

Course Version

The Course Version block (context block) displays the current Course Version record (context record) from the Maintain Basic Course Details form. The displayed records in the Course Version Note block are the Notes for the context record.

For example, if Course Version A300 - Bachelor of Arts, version x is selected in the Maintain Basic Course Details form and the Course Version Note navigation button is selected, then this form will display A300 - Bachelor of Arts, version x as the context record and any existing Notes relating to this Course Version will be displayed.

Course Version Note

This function allows additional information to be attached to Course Versions in the form of Notes. Notes of many types may be created, each type reflecting the common purpose of the Notes asssociated with it.

Notes may be created, stored and retrieved in almost any format. The currently available formats are:

  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Text
  • Other OLE (permitting virtually any other format)

Standards established by the institution should be used to determine to which Data Notes should be attached. Notes may be attached to data at the following levels:

  • Course Offering
  • Course Offering Pattern
  • Course Offering Option
  • Unit Version
  • Unit Offering
  • Unit Offering Pattern
  • Unit Offering Option

For example, Notes of type HANDBOOK could be created to record Notes for publishing in a University Handbook.

This form can be accessed through Maintain Basic Course Details - CRSF1210, and by selecting the Course Version Note button at the bottom of the block.

 

The Course Version block contains:

  • Course Code
  • Version Number
  • Course Status
  • Title

The Course Version Note block contains:

  • Course Note Type
  • Description
  • Note Format Type

To inquire on the Course Version Notes of a Course Version other than that initially displayed:

This block does not permit a query to be entered. It is necessary to:

  • Re-query the Course Version.
  • Navigate back to the Maintain Course Version Notes form.
