Note Type Restrictions
Access to Notes may be restricted at a number of levels.
A user's access to Person or Enrolment Notes may be affected by Note Type Restrictions placed on their role in SECF0041.
A user's access to Person or Enrolment Notes may also be affected by Note Type Restrictions placed on that user in SECF0040.
Enrolment Notes accessible to a user may be affected by Organisational Unit Restrictions in SECF0063.
If a user does not have access to a particular Organisational Unit, then Student Course Attempt Notes relating to courses owned by that org unit will not be available to that user, no matter what Note Type Restrictions exist.
Where restrictions exist at each of these levels the effects are cumulative for the user attempting to access Notes.
Person Notes
These Notes are applied to a person and so are not affected by Organisational Unit Restrictions.
Person Note Restrictions act to limit the 'select' and 'operational' (update, insert, delete) access of users, to particular types of Notes.They may be applied at the User level and the Security Role level.

Enrolment Notes
These Notes are related to a Student Course Attempt, Student Unit Set Attempt or Student Unit Attempt and as such are also affected by Organisational Unit Restrictions if they exist. It is the Organisational Unit that owns a given course that is used in determining whether a user's Org Unit Restrictions allow or prevent a them from accessing Course Attempt, Unit Set Attempt and Unit Attempt Notes relating to that course.
Enrolment Note Restrictions further act to limit the 'select' and 'operational' (update, insert, delete) access of users, to particular types of Notes. They may be applied at the User level and the Security Role level.
