This function enables the registering of job parameters to be used by a report (job). The Staff Connect Parameter Interface application uses this data to display the parameters for a Staff Connect Report. Ability to override the System definition is also provided by this function.

JBSF4180 (Maintain System Parameters) is used as a query-only “find form” in order to assist users in finding an appropriate System Parameter.

This form can be navigated to from the menu, or by selecting the Job Parameters button (upper block) in JBSF4110. If Staff Connect functionality is not available, and the Allow Connect Output Type check box is not selected in JBSF4110, the button will not appear.

For further details on Staff Connect functionality, see Staff Connect Information

Rules/Notes:

A maximum of 20 parameters that cater for a static or dynamic select can be specified for each system job.

If the System Parameter Type does not cater for information in the Details/Elements Tabs, Dynamic Select, Static Select, or Variable Height, then the Details and Element names 1, 2, 3 should be null and a warning message will be displayed if a user tries to define one of these areas.

To define a System Job Parameter record for a System Job (Connect Job Type):

  • QUERY a System Job that has an associated Connect Parameter application
  • Define a System Parameter and ensure that the Display order is set to 1 and that any other System Parameters Display Orders are adjusted appropriately
  • Save
  • Enter Connect
  • Enter the parameter application that the System Parameter was defined for
  • View the parameter screen

Rules/Notes:

The job_parameter_id field is populated behind the scenes every time a new record is inserted. This field ID is only unique across a particular job, therefore a sequence cannot be used. If, for some reason, a sequence was used by a person using their own job parameters, this could corrupt the job-parameter-id field. Because of this, strict management is required. Therefore, Job Parameter ID should start at 1 for each job and be incremented by one each time a new parameter is inserted.

To Find a System Parameter:

  • Enter form in context of a System Job
  • If a System Job Parameter record is not displayed:
    • Select Find System Parameter button
    • Enter JBSF4180 in Query mode or
  • If a System Job Parameter record is displayed
    • Select Find System Parameter button
    • Enter JBSF4180. The displayed System Job Parameter record is queried and displayed within that form

Rules/Notes:

Selecting the Find System Parameter button navigates to JBSF4180, where that form opens as a query only find form.

To Override data within the System Job Parameter block:

  • Enter this form in context of a System Job that has multiple System Job Parameter records defined
  • Select a System Job Parameter record with a System Parameter Type that has its Dynamic Select set to Y and its Static Select set to N
  • Navigate to the appropriate overlay. Either Dynamic Select or Static Select overlay
  • Override the value defined within this overlay
  • Save

Rules/Notes:

Users can Override data for the System Job Parameter record within the Tab fields for a System Parameter record of the System Job Parameter block.

Note: Users are to ensure that entry is case sensitive. For example, ENROLLED entered as 'enrolled' will not be recognised. It must be entered as ENROLLED.

To delete a System Job Parameter record from a System Job:

  • Select a System Job Parameter record with a System Parameter Type that has its Dynamic Select check box set to Y and its Static Select check box set to N
  • Ensure that Dynamic Select data exists for the System Parameter record
  • Delete the System Parameter record

Rules/Notes:

Deleting the Override values for System Job Parameter records reverts data within these fields back to the original values that are defined to the System Parameters within JBSF4180 and causes the field titles to display in black without the word Override.
