This form is used by a System Specialist to customise the messages (other than System Error Messages) displayed to users in Callista pop-up alert windows. These alerts typically have the word 'Message' in their title bar. Messages can also be recorded for display within the Callista Connect (self serve) functionality. These Self Serve Messages are displayed within the web pages accessed by the user.

Selecting the Self Serve Message button displays an overlay where messages can be recorded specifically for Callista Connect web functionality. Where a System Self Serve Message is recorded for a particular Message Number, the Self Serve Message is displayed in Callista Connect in a manner determined by the Message Display Type (eg. a pop-up browser window or a piece of text in the web page). However, unlike the User Message mentioned above, no Help button is included. If the message 'User Change Message Display Type' check box has been System set (ticked), the user Administrator may update the Message Display Type. However the choice of available display types may be limited in order to preserve System integrity.

Another function of the Self Serve Message is the ability to override the Alert Type. For example: a warning may display in ENRF3000 that a student cannot be enrolled in a particular Course Attempt as the course is DISCONTINUED, but the action is not prevented. In the Self Serve Message, the Alert Type could be set to ERROR, preventing the user from enrolling in the DISCONTINUED Course Attempt. Override Alert Types are System defined; a user Administrator cannot specify them.

Selecting the Include In Activity Log check box enables the error, when encountered by a student whilst within a WEB application, to appear within the Activity Log for the student. For further details on Activity logging, refer to the Activity Logging section in Understanding Callista Connect Manager.

Selecting the System Message button returns to the System Message block.

The use of this form is fully documented in Message Customisation in the Technical Documentation accompanying Callista.

Alert messages for System Errors are maintained using the Maintain System Error form (GENF0002).

This form is accessed from the main menu.

Where a User Explanation is also recorded against a particular Message Number, selecting the Help button will display this extra information rather than the original System Message.

When querying or updating Self Serve Messages, select 'Window -> Tile' from the pull-down menu so that Context System Message details are visible.
