CRSF2280 - Maintain Unit Version Notes

Purpose

To enable the creation and maintenance of Notes relating to Unit Versions

Unit Version

The Unit Version block (context block) displays the current Unit Version (context record) from the Maintain Basic Unit Details form. The displayed records in the Unit Version Note block are the Notes for the context record.

For example, if a Unit Version is selected in the Maintain Basic Unit Details form and the Unit Version Notes button is selected, this form displays the Unit Version as the context record as well as any existing notes relating to this Unit Version.

Unit Version Note

This function enables additional information to be attached to a Unit Version in the form of Notes. Notes of many Types can be created, each type reflecting the common purpose of the Notes associated with it.

Notes can be created, stored and retrieved in almost any Format. The currently available formats are:

  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Text
  • Other OLE (permitting virtually any other format)

Standards established by the institution should be used to determine to which data notes should be attached. Notes can be attached to data at the following levels:

  • Course Version
  • Course Offering
  • Course Offering Option
  • Unit Version
  • Unit Offering
  • Unit Offering Pattern
  • Unit Offering Option

For example, Notes of type HANDBOOK could be created to record Notes for publishing in a University Handbook.

This form can be accessed through the Unit Version Notes button in the lower block of CRSF2210.

 

The Unit Version block contains:

  • Unit Code
  • Version Number
  • Unit Status
  • Title

The Unit Version Note block contains:

  • Unit Note Type
  • Description
  • Note Format Type

To view the Unit Version Notes for a Unit Version other than that initially displayed:

This block does not permit a query to be entered. It is necessary to:

  • Re-query the Unit Version
  • Navigate back to the Unit Version Notes form
