Purpose

To send an electronic message to either an individual or a group

This job can also be used to produce an exception list for the outgoing electronic message. See below for details.

Sending an electronic message is run through the Job Control & Scheduling subsystem.

This job is accessed from the main menu.

 

Send Message To Person block

Parameters tab (two sub blocks)

Retrieve errors from previous job run

  • Log Creation Date

or

Create new message

  • Person ID
    Type the Person ID or Person ID Group number. The details for the specified ID are displayed in the description field.
  • Person ID Group

More tab

  • Message Text
    Type the message to be sent via electronic messaging. You can also paste text into this field using CTRL V.
  • Message Subject
    Optionally, type a Subject for the message. This is not included in SMS messages.
    Click on either the Schedule ASAP icon or the Schedule icon.
Rules/Notes:

You can only send electronic messages using Schedule ASAP or Schedule. Do not use Run to send an electronic message.

To create and send an electronic message is a manual process to either an individual (Person ID) or a group (Person ID Group).

Create an Exception Report

On the Parameters tab:

  • Select the job run to retrieve by typing a search value in the Log Creation Date and clicking the List of Values button or just clicking the List of Values button. This displays the applicable list of values for this job.
    • Log Creation Date
    • System Log Type
    • Correspondence Type
    • Reference Number
  • Locate the job to retrieve, highlight it and click on the OK button.
  • Click on the Run icon to begin the retrieval process.

Rules/Notes:

If an email is sent, the message subject is retained in the CORRESPONDENCE_DTL table.
