CDU's core education functions are supported by a broad operational arm

The primary role of University Operations is to facilitate the University's goals, as stated in the Strategic Plan 2021-2026, and activities, through pro-active management and responsible leadership in the efficient acquisition and use of resources.

 

Community Connections

The Community Connections team leads the University’s connections with CDU Alumni, donors and friends, government and defence stakeholders. This work includes receiving generous gifts from philanthropic organisations, businesses and individuals towards CDU’s capital projects, scholarships and programs. The CDU Art Collection and Gallery is also part of the portfolio and builds CDU’s reputation in the community. 

The Community Connection team champions CDU’s regional footprint through the leadership of Associate Vice-Chancellors in Alice Springs, Katherine, Nhulunbuy, and Sydney.

CDU Global

The Charles Darwin University (CDU) Global team is responsible for developing and implementing CDU’s internationalisation strategy which includes the recruitment of a high-quality, diverse international student cohort, establishing and maintaining successful international partnerships with overseas universities and providing exceptional student support which enables our students to reach their full potential.

Finance

The role of Finance is to provide customer focussed and value-added services across a broad range of functions such as Budget Development, Financial Reporting,  Treasury Management and Taxation, Accounts Payable and Accounting Services, Procurement and Travel.

First Nations Leadership

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor for First Nations Leadership is an Aboriginal-led Portfolio. We are uniquely dedicated to Indigenous capacity building, including in Indigenous research and our community engagement.

Governance

Governance is responsible for establishing and implementing high quality governance practices to meet CDU’s policy, legislative and regulatory obligations. The Governance Team supports the University Council and its board/committees; manages risk and assurance, policy and delegations, and FOI and privacy; and provides legal and secretariat and election services. They also maintain the Governance Document Library.


Health Safety and Environment

Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Team provides support and advice on the University's overall safety, emergency and wellbeing program and pursues a proactive risk management approach to work health and safety issues.

Digital Technology Solutions (DTS)

DTS is responsible for the provision of information technology and communication systems to all stakeholders including staff, student and faculty groups.

DTS develops, implements and maintains information systems ranging from small unit-orientated systems to major strategic enterprise systems. These developments are planned and executed by CDU policy and processes and government and regulatory requirements.


Library

The Library provides high-quality information resources, services and facilities to support the learning, teaching and research needs of the CDU community. CDU's Library ensures resources are available in all formats and provides a flexible and dynamic information literacy program and a research support service for staff and students.

CDU Library also maintains CDU Digital Collections, a repository of historic photographs and special collections, and provides a range of learning spaces for on-campus students.


Major Projects 

Major Projects provides a range of planning and construction services to enable University staff to meet the University's Strategic objectives on all campuses. The office provides services for the full life of a project from conceptual plans to funding submissions and managing the capital project works. Major Projects advise new facilities and also manage the refurbishment of existing infrastructure.

Marketing, Media and Communications

The role of Marketing, Media, and Communications (MMC) is twofold; to recruit students, and to raise the profile and reputation of the University in a competitive higher education industry. MMC achieved its goals through the creation of external communication in line with the University’s strategic plan.

MMC core activities includes, marketing, digital engagement, corporate brand enhancement, student recruitment and event management, web services, media engagement, content creation, sponsorship, and Territory FM radio station.

Property and Facilities

The Property and Facilities team is responsible for the safety, preservation and maintenance of CDU’s campuses and centres. It provides space planning, oversight of new building design and construction, renovation, repair and restoration of existing spaces, operations and maintenance of buildings and grounds, and management of University spaces.

This includes repairs and maintenance, cleaning, fleet management, grounds, venue hire, and energy management. Contact us with any questions about these services.

Planning and Performance

Planning and Performance enable and support a culture of evidence-based planning and decision-making at the University. The unit promotes performance accountability across the University community.

We aim to minimise duplication and manual data manipulation within the unit and across the University by adopting modern and relevant automated/repeatable data management and analytics approaches.

People and Culture

People and Culture are responsible for the development of human resource strategies, and programs related to workforce relations, planning and development, and health and safety compliance across all campuses and remote area groups.

OPC also delivers recruitment and payroll business services.


Records and Archives

The creation and proper management of records is central to the success of the University's learning, teaching, research and administration activities.

Corporate records are managed in Content Manager (TRIM), the University’s corporate recordkeeping system.

Records and Archives provide recordkeeping advice and support sound records management practices across the University – from capture to appropriate retention and archiving.

Student Administration 

Student Administration (SA) operates Student Central , the CDU enquiries hub at Casuarina, Waterfront Darwin and Alice Springs Campuses.

SA manages all aspects of Higher Education admissions, enrolments and fees.  Across the Higher Education and TAFE sectors, SA administers scholarships, student records, examinations and timetabling.

SA provides the development, operation and support for the Student Management System (Callista) and coordinates the University's graduation ceremonies.


Student Engagement

Student Engagement (SE) provides a range of support for all students to help them succeed at CDU.

This includes counselling, access and inclusion, accommodation, careers and employment services, and study skills and English language support. SE also hosts the National Disability Liaison Officer in the Northern Territory.

SE provides support for Student Groups and manages CDU’s equity and outreach programs, Aspire and Children’s University.

SE oversees CDU’s Orientation program and manages academic engagement and progression initiatives linked to improving retention.
